Each of our pastoral counselors operate their own private practice and agree to reduce their fees for our clients.

The Partnership and all affiliated counselors follow a strict non-discrimination policy offering individuals of all faith backgrounds to benefit from our services.

 

All Partnership counselors have training in

Behavioral Science and Theology.  Our counselors are

all trained to understand the emotional, interpersonal and

spiritual dimensions of your struggle.

Our counselors have over 35 different specialities

combined, including a counselor to work with the

non English speaking Hispanic Community.

Ellen has been serving Partnership clients since 2003, providing faith based counseling to children ages 2-18. Ellen, a preachers kid was raised in Raleigh, and received her BS in Psychology from ASU, BS in Nursing from UNC-CH and her MAEd in counseling from WCU.  She worked as a Public Health nurse at Buncombe County Health Department working with at-risk pregnancies and teen pregnancies and  as a school nurse.  She established Begley Child Counseling in 2002 and joined Bill Christian in the formation of  Black Mountain Pastoral Care and Counseling Center .

Gregg has been serving Partnership clients for 12 years, providing families in WNC the opportunity to receive faith based counseling.  Gregg received his BS from Evangel College with his major focus in psychology/biblical studies, his M.Ed. in counseling from Clemson University and his M.Ed. In teacher education from Converse College.  Gregg continued his education receiving his Ed.D in counseling from Texas A&M – Commerce. 

In addition to Gregg’s counseling practice he is also a Professor of Human Services at Montreat College and is licensed to supervise LPC's and also is an AAMFT Approved Supervisor.

David has been serving Partnership clients since 2007 offering marriage, family and individual therapy working with to help those in need of wholeness and healing.David received his BA at King College, his M.A at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and his M.Div. at Columbia Theological Seminary.  David is an ordained minister having served as pastor of churches in NC and GA before entering the field of pastoral counseling.David was born in Decatur, GA growing up around the Atlanta area.

Bi-lingual specialist serving non English speaking Hispanic populations in WNC.

Megan has been with the Partnership since mid 2009 and has been instrumental in the Partnership working towards diversity.  Megan provides counseling for the non-English speaking Hispanic communities of WNC and has worked with the Partnership to provide translated applications and brochures.  Megan began her career by receiving her BS from the University of Connecticut and later received her MSW from Hunter College of Social Work. She spent 6 months in Mexico where she received extensive on the job training in overseas youth ministry and 2 ½ years in Guatemala working with youth, women, and community development.  Megan has become a familiar and loved face in the Hispanic Catholic communities of Asheville and Hendersonville.

John has been serving Partnership clients in the Transylvania County area since 2005.  John received his B.A. from Wake Forest University and his D.Min from Vanderbilt University Divinity School.  He practices pastoral counseling and psychotherapy in Brevard where he originated the Eastatoe Trail Counseling and Consultation Center.  A chief aspect of his work: to respect the journey of each person and he hopes to create a place where even the most fearful aspects of the self can be received with reflection, care and understanding.

Bill has been serving Partnership clients since 2007, receiving his Doctor of Ministry and Master of Theology from Union Theological Seminary, he received his certificate in pastoral counseling from the VA Institute of Pastoral Care and his PhD from Graduate Theological Foundation. He specializes in working with couples and also does individual adult therapy with folks struggling with depression, anxiety and grief.

Michael is one of the founding members of the Partnership.  He and like minded individuals dedicated their time and resources to establish the Partnership and has been serving as a counselor, visionary and fundraiser since 1996.  He has been instrumental in the past growth of the Partnership and recently joined the Board of Directors to help implement the expansion campaign to promote financial sustainability for years to come. Michael is the Director of the Pastoral Counseling and Growth Center in Asheville. He received his B.A from Baylor University and his M.Div, Th.M and Ph.D from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Jeanine has been a instrumental part of the Partnership since conception in 1996.  Jeanine  was one of the first pastoral counselor to offer counseling services to Partnership clients.  She was involved in the development and growth of the Partnership serving not only as a counselor but also maintained many administrative duties in the early days of the Partnership when funds were not available for staff.

Jeanine is certified as an Enneagram teacher and an Internal Family Systems therapist, both of which serve as maps to engage clients inner resources in the midst of pain and overwhelm.

Russell has served the Partnership not only as an affiliated counselor since 1996 but also served on the Board of Directors as well as interim director in 1999.

Russell was born and raised in Walterboro, SC , received his BA from Furman University, MDiv. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and his Doctor of Theology from Columbia Theological Seminary.  In addition to his counseling practice here in Asheville, Russell also directs the residency in psychotherapy and spirituality for CareNet of NC, a subsidiary of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Alice has been serving Partnership clients through her private practice since 2007.  She has worked in the field of childhood medical illnesses for 15 years at Mission Hospitals with a focus on children and cancer.  Currently she works at Hope Women’s Cancer Center as well as maintains her private practice.  Alice also has a certificate in Spiritual Guidance which is a ministry to help people clarify and strengthen their own call to living out their faith and ministry in God’s world.

She has also served on the Board of Directors and contributes her time and resources to help support the fundraising initiatives of the Partnership.  Jean received her BA from Davidson College, her PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Tennessee and her MA in pastoral ministry from the Seminary of the Southwest.  Prior to her service as a pastoral counselor, she worked as a psychologist in a university student counseling center. In her counseling, church and community ministries, Jean works for healing and reconciliation.

Sandra is one of our newest partners in providing pastoral counseling to the hurting families of WNC.  She has over 38 years of experience in pastoral counseling receiving her M.C.E from Presbyterian School of Christian Education, her B.D.  And ThM. from Union Theological Seminary and her PhD. From Princeton Theological Seminary.   In addition Sandra has worked to help establish pastoral counseling centers providing pastoral counseling training and supervision in VA, MN and CA. 

Sandra was born and raised in Asheville, NC into a medical family with the anticipation of fostering a career in medicine either as a physician.  Personal events led to her waking in the middle of the night and truly knowing in her heart that she was being called to enter the ministry of restoring faith, hope and love.

Valerie consistently expresses her sincere gratitude to the Partnership for allowing her the ability to offer individuals the opportunity to receive faith based counseling instead of referring them out to state based services. Valerie resides in Hendersonville and has welcomed the opportunity to provide pastoral counseling to her community for over 15 years.

Diane, a native of the Canton area has been serving  Partnership clients for 8 years.  Diane received her Seminary degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and trained as a resident in pastoral counseling for three years at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.  She received her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Appalachian State University. Her ministry includes individual therapy ages 8 to 99 as well as couple and family therpay.  She is married to a Methodist minister enjoys being stepmother and has two grandsons. She recently completed the necessary requirements to practice Equine Therapy; a form of animal assisted therapy utilizing the compassionate love of horses.
